Since 1979, FFA has facilitated regional cooperation so that all Pacific countries benefit from the sustainable use of tuna – which currently contributes around USD $1 billion per annum to Pacific economies through access revenue and contribution to GDP, and is important for many people’s livelihoods in the Pacific.
About the Opportunity
FFA now has a fantastic opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Corporate Services Division. This is a full-time role based in Honiara, in the Solomon Islands. This appointment is made on a three-year term and may be renewable for a further three years subject to availability of funds, ongoing need for the position and performance.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position exists to-:
- The Management Accountant is responsible for leading the Financial Management section of the Finance Unit, providing strategic financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support effective decision-making, performance monitoring, and resource management across the Secretariat.
- The role leads the development, implementation, oversight, and reporting of the Secretariat’s Annual Work Programme and Budget (AWPB), ensuring that budgets, forecasts, and management reports are accurate, timely, and aligned with organisational objectives, funding agreements, and policies.
- The Management Accountant also oversees the Reporting Section of the Finance Unit, with responsibilities for internal financial reporting, cash flow and investment management, and the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures. In addition, the position manages end-user capabilities within the Secretariat’s financial management system, ensuring that staff have the appropriate tools, training, and access to perform effectively.
- Through these responsibilities, the Management Accountant delivers relevant, accurate, and timely financial information to Divisions, supporting their financial planning, decision-making, and effective resource management.

About You
To be considered for this position you will have tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Financial Management or related field and with a Membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
You will need to have at least five years’ experience in management accounting in a senior level preferably in a regional or international organisation and have proven knowledge and experience in financial systems, budget preparations, monitoring of cash flow and investment. An experience in managing financial accounting systems and strong record of meeting deadlines for financial analysis reporting and be able to communicate fluently in English to report on financial matters and deliver clear recommendations and advice to senior management is highly regarded.
Your experience in working for a CROP or regional or international organisation with a background on similar enterprise-level financial management information systems like Technology One is preferable. Alongside, with your undertaking in donor funding and reporting arrangements, knowledge in investment and treasury practice. You will bring your exceptional leadership skills in people management, processes and change. You will hold yourself accountable to deliver your best results with your initiative reflecting the technical advice you will give.

The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is offering the successful candidate a competitive salary of USD$54,332.00 – USD$76,704.00 p,a including Location and COLDA allowances, TAX-FREE for citizens of most countries.
An appointment offer is normally made at 85% of the salary grade for the position. Where justified the Director-General has the discretion to appoint at a higher level within the salary grades and ranges.
You will also have superannuation paid at 7.5% into either a nominated fund or as an additional cash supplement. FFA reimburses all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses for yourself and dependents. Insurance coverage is also provided for personal accident, life, medical & repatriation.
Education for dependent children will be reimbursed at 75% of tuition fees (Conditions apply). If your dependent child is educated overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each contract year.
Accommodation assistance is also available.
Additionally, relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara. Annual airfares back to your country of domicile will be provided. There is also a retention incentive of 21% of your base salary which will be paid on the completion of your 3 year contract.
On top of all this, you will have access to 6 weeks of annual leave each year.
